Changing jobs has now become easier for EPFO members.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a simpler online system that allows employees to transfer their Provident Fund (PF) balance quickly after joining a new company.
The new process reduces paperwork, speeds up transfers, and helps employees keep all their retirement savings in one PF account.

Two Ways to Transfer Your PF Online
EPFO members can now transfer their PF balance through two online methods available on the EPFO Member Portal.
Depending on their eligibility, employees can either use the automatic PF transfer facility or submit an online Form 13 transfer request.
Both options are designed to make the transfer process faster while allowing employees to continue using the same Universal Account Number (UAN).
Automatic PF Transfer for Eligible Employees
Employees whose Aadhaar-linked UAN details are updated and verified may not have to submit any transfer request.
In eligible cases, EPFO can automatically transfer the PF balance from the old employer to the new one after the employee joins a new organisation.
This removes the need for manual applications and employer approvals in many cases.
The automatic transfer system is expected to make job changes smoother and ensure retirement savings remain in one place.
Online Transfer Through Form 13
Employees who are not eligible for automatic transfer can still complete the process online.
They simply need to log in to the EPFO Member Portal using their UAN and password, choose the PF Transfer service, verify their employment details, and submit the Form 13 request online.
The digital process eliminates paperwork and also allows members to track the status of their application through the portal.
Benefits for Employees
The new transfer system offers several advantages for salaried employees:
Keeps all PF savings under a single UAN.
Ensures uninterrupted interest on the accumulated PF balance.
Makes future PF withdrawals and pension claims easier.
Reduces the risk of inactive or forgotten PF accounts.
Saves time by reducing paperwork and manual approvals.
EPFO’s Push Towards Digital Services
The latest update is part of EPFO’s ongoing effort to make its services more digital and user-friendly.
By introducing automatic PF transfers and simplifying the online transfer process, EPFO aims to make job changes more convenient for millions of employees across the country while improving the overall experience of managing retirement savings.
Employees planning to switch jobs should ensure that their Aadhaar, UAN, and personal details are updated and verified so they can take full advantage of these new online transfer facilities.
