ICICI Bank has introduced a new feature that could make your UPI payments quicker and more secure.
You can now approve certain UPI transactions using your fingerprint or face recognition, instead of entering your UPI PIN every time.

No More PIN for Small Payments
This new feature works for UPI payments of up to Rs 5,000.
For any amount above that, you’ll still need to enter your regular UPI PIN.
So, security remains tight for bigger transactions.
The main idea here is simple—make everyday payments faster while keeping them safe.
Why This Feature Is Useful
Entering a PIN in public places can sometimes be risky. Someone nearby could easily see it.
With biometric authentication, you don’t need to type anything.
Your fingerprint or face scan does the job, reducing the risk of shoulder-surfing.
It also saves time, especially when you’re making quick payments at shops or online.
Where You Can Use It
The feature works across most common UPI payment methods, including:
Sending money to others
Paying by scanning QR codes
Online shopping payments
Transactions on both Android and iPhone devices
It’s available on the bank’s iMobile app, provided you’re using the latest version.
How to Turn It On
Activating biometric payments is simple and takes just a few steps:
Log in to the iMobile app
Go to UPI Payments
Open UPI Settings
Select your bank account
Tap on Use biometric for payments
Enter your UPI PIN once for verification
Complete fingerprint or face authentication
Once done, you’re all set to use biometrics for eligible payments.
A Step Towards Faster Digital Payments
According to ICICI Bank, this feature is designed to give users both convenience and security.
You can still choose to use your UPI PIN if you prefer, but biometrics offer a quicker alternative for smaller payments.
As UPI continues to grow in India, features like this can make digital payments smoother, safer, and more user-friendly for everyone.
