Citizens aged 60 and above receive a fixed pension amount each month to support their daily needs. This pension scheme is free of charge and aims to offer financial security to the elderly in their later years.

Who is Eligible for the Scheme?

The scheme is available exclusively to Indian citizens who are 60 years or older. To qualify, applicants must not be receiving any other government pension.

If an individual is already part of a different government pension scheme, they are not eligible for this one.

Additionally, applicants must certify that they are not benefiting from any other pension scheme by submitting an affidavit.

Required Documents for Application

To apply for this scheme, applicants must submit the following documents:

1) Domicile Certificate

2) Age Proof Certificate

3) Address Proof (e.g., Aadhar Card, Voter ID, or Electricity Bill)

4) Bank Passbook

5) Ration Card

6) Affidavit stating that the applicant is not receiving benefits from any other pension scheme.

How to Apply for the Scheme?

There are two simple ways to apply for the benefits of the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme:

CSC Center: You can visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) to fill out the application form. Please note that there might be a small fee for this service.

Online Application: For a hassle-free experience, you can apply online using the UMANG app, which is free of charge.

Steps for Online Application

Here are the steps to apply online through the UMANG app:

1) Download and open the UMANG App.

2) Search for “Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme” in the search box.

3) Select the “NSAP” option and read the scheme details carefully.

4) Click on “Apply” and fill in your application form with necessary details like your name, address, bank account information, and Aadhaar number.

5) After verifying your Aadhaar number, upload a passport-sized photo.

6) Finally, click on “Submit” to complete the application process.

This online process is quick and can be completed in just five minutes, making it easy for senior citizens to apply and enjoy the benefits of the scheme.
