Changing jobs often creates a common problem for employees — forgetting details of their old EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) accounts.

To solve this issue, the government has introduced a new digital platform called E-PRAAPTI.

This portal will help EPF members locate their old or inactive PF accounts, access the money, and transfer it to their active UAN (Universal Account Number) account.

The information about this new facility was shared by Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje in the Lok Sabha.

How Will the E-PRAAPTI Portal Work?

The new portal uses Aadhaar-based authentication to verify the identity of EPF members.

Once the verification process is completed, users can:

Find their inactive or old PF accounts.

Transfer old PF balances to their current UAN account.

Claim money available in previous PF accounts.

The system is designed to make the process faster and reduce dependence on paperwork.

However, the portal will mainly help those members who have accurate details of their old PF accounts.

Currently, there is no plan to include people who do not remember their old PF account number or identification details.

Benefits of the New EPF Portal

The introduction of E-PRAAPTI is expected to make managing old PF accounts much easier for employees.

Some major benefits include:

Less paperwork and fewer office visits.

Faster settlement of inactive EPF accounts.

Digital submission of KYC update-related forms.

More transparent and hassle-free processing.

Employees who frequently change jobs will especially benefit from this facility, as they will no longer need to follow lengthy procedures to recover old PF savings.

Why Was a Separate Portal Needed?

Many employees lose track of their old PF accounts after switching jobs, especially accounts created before the UAN system became widely used.

In many cases, money remains deposited in these inactive accounts because employees are unable to access or transfer it.

The main purpose of E-PRAAPTI is to provide a simple digital solution where members can locate, transfer, or claim their old PF money without unnecessary delays.

With this new initiative, the government aims to make EPF services more convenient and employee-friendly.
