The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved a 30-day ad hoc bonus for the financial year 2025-26, with 25% of the amount payable in cash and the remaining 75% directed towards provident fund savings.

The decision covers non-gazetted state government employees and eligible staff working in government-aided educational and technical institutions, local bodies, district panchayats and certain government departments.

Eligible daily-wage workers have also been included under separate conditions.

UP Government Diwali Bonus 2026: How Much Will Employees Get?

The government has fixed ₹7,000 as the maximum monthly amount for calculating the bonus. Based on the 30-day bonus period, eligible regular employees can receive a maximum of ₹6,908.

The actual amount will depend on the employee’s admissible earnings and eligibility. The benefit is intended for full-time non-gazetted employees working in posts up to Pay Matrix Level 8, or the corresponding earlier grade-pay limit.

Employees must have completed at least one year of continuous service by March 31, 2026, to qualify under the prescribed rules.

How Will the Bonus Be Paid?

The government has adopted a 75:25 payment arrangement. Under this system, 75% of the approved bonus will be deposited into the employee’s provident fund account, while the remaining 25% will be paid in cash.

For an employee receiving the maximum bonus of ₹6,908, approximately ₹5,181 will go towards provident fund savings and around ₹1,727 will be paid in cash.

Employees who are not members of the relevant provident fund scheme will receive the savings portion through a National Savings Certificate (NSC) or a Public Provident Fund (PPF) deposit, as applicable under the government order.

There is also an exception for employees who retired after March 31, 2026, or are due to retire on or before April 30, 2027.

Eligible employees in these categories will receive their entire bonus amount in cash instead of the usual split.

Bonus Rules for Daily-Wage Employees

The government has extended the benefit to eligible daily-wage employees as well. However, they must meet separate service and attendance requirements.

Those working in offices with a six-day work week must have completed at least three years of continuous service by March 31, 2026, and worked at least 240 days in each year.

For employees in offices following a five-day work week, the minimum requirement is 206 working days annually.

For calculating their bonus, the maximum monthly earnings limit has been fixed at ₹1,200. Eligible daily-wage employees can therefore receive a maximum bonus of ₹1,184.

Which Employees May Not Receive the Bonus?

The government order also lays down conditions concerning disciplinary and criminal proceedings.

Employees who were penalised in departmental disciplinary action or criminal cases during the 2025-26 financial year will not qualify for the bonus under the stated rules.

Where departmental proceedings or criminal cases are still pending, the bonus payment will be withheld until the matter is decided.

Employees who are subsequently cleared may receive the withheld amount as per the applicable rules.

The approval provides a festive-season benefit to eligible employees across state departments and other covered institutions.

However, the final amount and payment method will depend on each employee’s service record, earnings and the conditions specified in the government order.
